Jacqui Saburido, who recently died, had something happen to her that is a horrific nightmare that would destroy most people.

She was a beautiful 20 year old girl who was hit head on by a drunk driver in 1999, and the fire she was burning in until paramedics could put the fire out scorched her eyes, face, and hands. Over 100 operations later, she was still blind and could not use her hands. What a tragedy. It's heartbreaking. It's disturbing. It's scary.

But the human she was still lived on inside her now disfigured and damaged shell.

It would be so easy for someone who suffered this way to become bitter, angry, vengeful, depressed, and I would expect she went through a hellish ordeal to come to terms with her new reality following the accident. It's a scary thought to think anything could happen to anyone at any time that in one instant, completely changes your life.

Jacqui used her life to speak to others about the dangerous and foolishness of drunk driving, and to be mindful of what it can cost others. She didn't give herself over to despair and self-pity, but proved herself to be a strong and courageous woman in spite of the enormous blow she was dealt in life.

She died April 20th, this year, 2019, at age 40.
