Lightning Struck so Close!!
In June, I went to a cottage for a week. On the way home, I was planning to go fishing at another lake, but as we got near it, it started raining. Then lightning struck right next to the vehicle.
The bright flash of light so close and the very loud boom sound and car shaking were totally unexpected and a first in my life.
I got an odd sensation in my leg after that and my pulse jumped for awhile and I, who have never been afraid of lightning, wondered, why would God strike that close?
Needless to say, I didn't fish then and headed home instead.
It is a humbling and awakening thing to see a tiny bit of God's power so close.
Job 37:15
Do you know how God controls the clouds and makes his lightning flash?
God controls the lightning and weather.
The things God does in our lives aren't always comprehensible to us, but we do have a manual we can refer to, the Bible.
The Bible tells us God loves us, that our sins separate us from Him and earn death and hell, and that He loved us so much He became a human so He could keep the law perfectly and die in our place as our substitute, taking God's wrath on sin against Himself and suffering and dying on our behalf.
God is both perfectly just and punishes evil and perfectly loving and sacrificed Himself to save us.
Seeing His lightning flash so close...it's a fearsome and beautiful thing to see a tiny amount of the power that loves you, that is on your side.
We can only fall down before the Almighty Creator of the universe in wonder, love, and praise!
Psalm 148
Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
Praise Him in the heights!
2 Praise Him, all His angels;
Praise Him, all His hosts!
3 Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all you stars of light!
4 Praise Him, you heavens of heavens,
And you waters above the heavens!
5 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For He commanded and they were created.

7 Praise the Lord from the earth,
You great sea creatures and all the depths;

Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;

Creeping things and flying fowl;
11 Kings of the earth and all peoples;
Princes and all judges of the earth;
12 Both young men and maidens;
Old men and children.
13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For His name alone is exalted;
His glory is above the earth and heaven.
14 And He has exalted the horn of His people,
The praise of all His saints—
Of the children of Israel,
A people near to Him.
